1 Samuel 16:13-15

¹³ Samuel took the horn that was full of olive oil. He poured the oil over David's head to anoint him. Samuel did this in front of David's brothers. From that moment, the Spirit of the Lord came on David with great power.

Then Samuel returned to his home in Ramah.

David becomes Saul's servant

¹⁴ The Spirit of the Lord had now gone away from Saul. The Lord sent an evil spirit to Saul. It gave Saul trouble and fear in his mind.

¹⁵ Saul's servants said to him, ‘We know that God has sent an evil spirit which is giving you much trouble.
